Examining Research Paper Citations
Examining Research Paper CitationsWhen you submit your research paper for publication, you will be required to use a citation format. The citation style should be something that is easy to understand and that supports the research that you are doing. Your student will find this more than useful when he or she takes the course on research papers and evaluation. There are four main issues to consider when you choose your citation style. First of all, there are the times when you are dealing with a non-English language. Your student will learn in his or her course that you must write the paper in a way that is clear and straightforward and will not offend anyone who reads your paper. The second issue is the author's name. Your student will learn in his or her course that the author's name should not be changed. Once the name is the same throughout the paper, there should be no spelling or grammatical errors that make it appear different than the paper. The third issue is the abbreviation o f words. For example, the abbreviation of the writer's name is EK, while you should use C to indicate this abbreviation. In most cases, the acronym must be spelled correctly so that it stands out from the rest of the writing. The fourth issue to consider when choosing a citation format is whether or not you want to have a page reference. A page reference is actually helpful if you have multiple sources that you want to use throughout the paper. There is also a good argument that you should use a page reference because your student will not be able to read the references on the page as well as they can if you include a citation on the page itself. The argument is generally for those that write more in notes or other places in the text. There are two groups of students need to know about when choosing a citation format. The first group consists of those that are writing for a journal. If you are writing for a journal, then you must choose a format that fits the journal. The second group consists of those that are writing for a non-journal. This is mainly the case for those that are using this material for a research paper at an academic conference. You will find that the choice for your citation format will vary depending on which of these groups you belong to.Finally, when you are writing a research paper for publication, you should have a form that is easy to understand and that supports the research that you are doing. If you have more than one source, then you must choose a citation format that allows you to use the author's name and include the abbreviation. If you use a page reference, then you must use the reference page format so that it stands out from the rest of the writing.
